From S.C.P. Marine Innovation:
A unique wearable hydro-jet pack that redefines
personal underwater propulsion.
Wearable propulsion system utilises high performance marine thrusters mounted securely onto the user's forearms to enable freestyle underwater acrobatics.
Portsmouth, UK – December 17, 2013 – S.C.P. Marine Innovation (www.sharein.com/press/underwater-jet-pack), a Portsmouth based start-up founded by brothers Simon and Chris Parke, today announced its plans to launch its underwater jet pack in 2014.
The current prototype, called the ‘x2 Underwater Jet Pack', is a unique arm-worn delivery system that generates powerful vectored thrust, amplifying movements of the user's arms. This gives scuba and free-divers a new way to explore freestyle underwater acrobatics as well as simply fly around underwater.
To power the x2 Underwater Jet Pack the company has integrated the latest lithium battery technology coupled with state of the art digital motors and a wireless control system. S.C.P. Marine Innovation has released its pitch on the ShareIn equity crowdfunding website (www.sharein.com).
"The weightless environment underwater provides amazing potential for acrobatic stunts and freedom of movement," said Simon Parke, co-inventor and co-founder, S.C.P. Marine Innovation. "The optimum position when using other technology is to hold it out directly in front of you, but this often means that the thrust is directed straight at the user. The x2 Underwater Jet Pack is worn on the outer arms and is fast, manoeuvrable, un-tethered, and frankly redefines underwater propulsion."
Crowdfunding has recently surged in popularity. With ShareIn, equity investors get a share in the future success of S.C.P. Marine Innovation, at a very low upfront cost to the company.
The opportunity to raise start-up capital and launch products via the crowd was a crucial deciding factor when Simon and Chris committed to starting their new business 18 months ago.
Powered marine action sports is a dynamic new growth market and the Parke brothers are keen to secure their target funding and bring their product to market.
The company has already raised 31% of its goal. The anticipated retail price of the x2 Underwater Jet Pack is £3500 ($5700).
