The ShareIn team has grown quickly over the last couple of years. It’s our amazing people that make the magic happen. In our meet the team section we aim to tell you a little more about the people behind the scenes. This week we talked to Verity Crosswell.
Who are you?
Hi, I’m Verity. I’m one of our more experienced software developers. I discovered a love of programming during my maths degree at Manchester University and a love of Edinburgh during some early visits when I was in a long-distance relationship with a local. I’ve been living and working here since I graduated in 2010.
What do you do at ShareIn?
In short, I write code to make our program go! I’ve worked on a lot of things during my time at ShareIn, from designing and writing standalone APIs to be accessed by other applications to adding new features for the end users (our clients and their investors) to use directly. I was also a key part in our initial integration with Mangopay (one of our payment providers) and I continue to manage our app’s interaction with their services.
I know our application inside out so a big part of my job is also assisting the client support team when they need technical knowledge to do their jobs, and advising and collaborating with other developers on how best to approach technical issues that arise.
Does ShareIn enable IF ISA?
Yes! Our Head of Finance and I have been working closely on our Innovative Finance ISA, which enables investors to open ISAs with us, transfer existing ISAs in, make IFISA investments and manage their accounts, while ensuring that our platform calculates everything correctly to comply with HMRC regulations. My maths background has helped with this!
What’s something you would like to tell people about ShareIn that perhaps they don’t know?
We have five female developers on our devteam of 11 – that’s five times more than I’ve ever worked with before! We also have 9 plants in the office and we’ve named them all.
Tell us an interesting fact about you?
I was ShareIn’s first employee! I’ve been with them since 2015 and it’s been great to see the company grow. I also keep two leopard geckos called Ammi and Kidaa. They are like miniature cats and they love to climb on me.
